The next weekend there was a retreat at the Alpine Inn in Berchtesgaden. There was more singing, more preaching, and some wonderful hikes in the surrounding mountain area - including an early morning hike up a goat/sheep path. Later that winter there was a skiing trip to Garmisch. We spent lots of time falling down in the snow! And there were many Sunday afternoons at the Servicemen's Gospel Hour. Sometimes Charlie preached. He always brought a good message and Peggy was so proud of him! She was in love and I was falling in love too! August 20th David and I were married and Charlie was the best man. David was so pleased that Charlie was there for him. Peggy was there too and Diane Doubleday was my one attendant. And then in December Charlie and Peg were married and David was the best man. Do I remember correctly that Meredith Whitaker was a flower girl and the ceremony was performed by Chaplain Shepherd? And after the wedding David and I drove the newlyweds to Garmisch for their honeymoon?
