Even though Ann is his niece, over the years I probably saw Charlie more regularly than she did. At most every annual meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature, Charlie and I would catch up on our respective news. With his extensive contacts in the guild he had invitations to lots of receptions, so I tagged along. It's been cool.
