Helen and I became acquainted with Peggy and Charles in Claremont, California, where all of us were involved in Claremont Graduate University and its Institute for Antiquity & Christianity. As the Institute's associate director at that time I can attest to the wonderful energy Charles and Peggy invested in his emerging career as a scholar; his work on the Coptic Gnostic Library project distinguished Charles as one of the most industrious research associates in that dynamic circle.
